PAMOSAINGAN CHAPEL
Brgy. Pamosaingan is the biggest barangay among the 14 barangays of the Municipality of Socorro with majority of the settlers are Catholics. Last June 24, 2014, the Catholics celebrated the 128th fiesta in honor of their patron saint, St. John the Baptist. It only means that Pamosaingan is the oldest and the first baranggay established in the entire island of Bucas Grande. Despite its deep history, the municipal town is not located in this barangay but rather 7 kilometers away. The seat of the local government is in poblacion, wherein 3 barangays (Rizal, Navarro, and Taruc) share the noticeable progress and development of the island.
Short History: By 1855, Pamosaingan became a visita under the capital of the pueblo of Caolo (present day Del Carmen) of the Gobierno Militar y Political de Surigao. There are actually three other pueblos established by the civil governments in 1855. The pueblo of Sapao with the visita of San Isidro, the Pueblo of Cabuntog, and the pueblo of Dapa with the visitas of pilar, Cambasaag and Socorro. Source. It is located at an elevation of 17 meters above sea level. Pamosaingan is also known as Pamosaingan, Pamosiangan, Pamusaingan. Its coordinates are 9°38'58" N and 125°55'26" E in DMS (Degrees Minutes Seconds) or 9.64944 and 125.924 (in decimal degrees). Its UTM position is ZL26 and its Joint Operation Graphics reference is NC51-12.The standard time zone for Pamosaingan is UTC/GMT+8 Pastoral Care: In the care for pastoral needs, the friar-priests are holding masses every Wednesday at 5:00 PM, Sunday at 8:30 AM and first Friday of the month at 5:00 PM. Other sacraments are offered too by the parish administrators. Moreover, the Basic Ecclesial Communities have been the effective means to evangelize the people of Pamosaingan. People are being connected not only by spiritual needs but also in other aspects of life. All because of the BECs. |
