BRGY. SAN ROQUE CHAPEL
The faithful of San Roque slowly expressed their oneness of mind and heart in faith when they started constructing a small chapel in 1955. However, a strong typhoon in 1964 destroyed the living symbol of their faith. After the typhoon, they constructed a small one where their communal prayer of the Rosary every Sunday was done. Lucia Dizon and Christian Basul, who were zealous in practicing their faith, were hailed and respected as prayer leaders if any religious activities.
When Fr. Alejandrino Plaza, SVD was assigned as resident parish priest in Socorro, they constructed a bugger chapel made of wood. Patrocenio Pandongao was then the leader of the chapel. When the Parishwas turned over to the administration of the Augustinians, the faithful tried to improve the physical condition of their chapel by concretizing the walls and extending the entrance of the chapel. Coldness, indifference often times disturbed the unity of the faithful. However, those who persevered where the stronger ones faithful to their commitments. |
