The Augustinian youth organization of the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish is called "Friends of Saint Augustine." The Friends of Saint Augustine takes inspiration from Augustine’s restless search for God as a young man, and the importance of friends on his journey.
Observing the mission of the International Commission on the Youth Apostolate, the youth chapter of Socorro has twofold mission: (1) to promote youth ministry as a core activity of the Augustinian Order and (2) to encourage young people to follow Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Augustine through service to the Church, interiority, and common life. The Augustinians wish to offer young people opportunities for encounters with Christ through meeting their peers who share their faith; accompanying them on this often restless stage of life in a spirit of friendship and encouraging young people to practise community by serving others. Activities: 1. Annual Parish Youth Camp (Summer or Semestral break) 2. Monthly meeting (every last Saturday of the Month) 3. Fundraising according to chapel officers. Projects: 1. Candle making 2. Film showing every Friday 3. Volunteer work at ROCACOCO |
